This section is under development. Here are some of the pictures that the Association has been collecting. Some of them were taken 80 years ago. (If you have any old pictures from the neighbourhood feel free to send them to us). See sub section “Pictures from the past” for more pictures of the neighbourhood.
The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium was built in 1950 on East Ave. in Kitchener. This aerial shows the almost-completed structure beside Knollwood Park, a former military training camp. In the foreground new housing is going up. (Notice how East Avenue was not a road yet, on the left side)
Sheppard Public School on Weber St. E. between Simeon and Borden St. began as an eight-room structure in 1929. In 1947 another four rooms were added to the east side of the building, here seen under construction. At the time this photo was taken Weber St. extended only another block eastward. Another wing was added on the west side in 1952.
Aerial pictures over the years:
Aerial picture of Stanley Park taken in 1945. Notice the cross on the bottom left is where the Auditorium is going to be built. East Av doesn’t exist yet.

Aerial view of Stanley Park in 1963. Notice the Auditorium and Sheppard School on the bottom left. The Conestoga Parkway between the Auditorium and Stanley Park area has not been built yet . There are just a few houses built on the east side of Stanley Park.
